Enter to Win: Thoroughbred Mares In America

By Barbara Livingston

A RARE, LIMITED EDITION BOOK GENEROUSLY DONATED BY BARBARA LIVINGSTON TO BE WON IN A CHARITABLE DRAWING TO BENEFIT MANE CHARACTERS!

Barbara has generously offered this wonderful book to us to benefit our sanctuary!  We’re honored, thrilled, excited and so grateful!   As you know, Barbara is THE equine photographer and needs no introduction. Her work is world-renowned, and her heart is as big as her reputation! This charitable drawing will run for two weeks; TEN (10) ENTRIES FOR $15.00, TWENTY (20) ENTRIES FOR $25.00, AND FIFTY (50) ENTRIES FOR $50.00. One of our very special horses will assist in the drawing!

Here’s a description of the book:

This book is approximately 11×13, just over 100 pages and features 50 Grade 1-related fillies and mares.  Barbara created these images out of respect and admiration for long-ago photographers such as Rouch, LS Sutcliffe and Clarence Hailey. She began working on the book in 2004, creating the image of 32 year old CHATEAUCREEK and finished in 2020. CHATEAUCREEK (1970-2003) was the dam of English champion Henbit.

From broodmare extraordinaire ALIDIVA, three of whose offspring won Group 1s in the same season, to ZENYATTA, many of the names will be familiar.  The rarest, PERSONAL ENSIGN and MY FLAG, not only were Grade 1 winners, but also produced Grade 1 winners.

With Barbara’s dear friend Tom Hall’s research and assistance, each photo illustration is accompanied by a quick description of the main points of interest for each horse The images are sepia-toned, with halters removed and backgrounds minimized to look similar to the old vintage conformation books of Rouch, Hailey and others.

All proceeds go directly to our horses’ care.  We currently have thirteen rescues; a mix of TBs and STBs and one of unknown breed.  They live in large pastures with herd mates and we ask nothing of them except to be a horse!  While our rescues have different stories and backgrounds, their commonality is that they can all EAT, require vet, farrier and dental work, nutritionist visits and whatever else comes up.

Thank you for donating to our horses, and thank you for caring!
