Lislea Harry
Our inaugural Mane Character
Harry, affectionately known as Lislea Harry, was a bay Standardbred who lived a remarkable life. Born on May 28, 2002, Harry quickly showed a gentle and resilient spirit. As a young horse, he was trained for harness racing, a sport that often tests the limits of both horse and rider. However, Harry’s career on the track was short-lived, not due to lack of ability, but because of an unexpected turn of events. At a young age, Harry began to lose his sight, eventually becoming completely blind.
Despite this significant challenge, Harry’s kind nature and keen sense of trust endeared him to those around him. He adjusted remarkably well to his condition, learning to navigate his environment with confidence and grace. His caretakers often marveled at his ability to recognize familiar voices and follow them, demonstrating an impressive memory and strong bond with the people in his life.
Harry’s days were filled with love and care. He enjoyed leisurely walks around the farm, guided by his handlers who he trusted completely. The sound of their voices brought him comfort, and he would often nuzzle them affectionately. Even without sight, Harry was a calming presence for other horses, often becoming a steady companion for those in need of reassurance.
In his later years, Harry moved to a beautiful farm where he enjoyed a peaceful retirement. Surrounded by lush pastures and the sounds of nature, he spent his days basking in the sun and exploring his surroundings. On April 13, 2024, Harry passed away, leaving behind a legacy of courage and resilience. He would have turned 21 on May 28, a milestone his caretakers remembered fondly.
