Hello, my name is Flushing High, but everyone here calls me Ruby. I’m a 16-year-old Standardbred mare who spent much of my life pulling carts, working hard on the roads before being discarded and found in a pen. I arrived at Mane Characters in April 2026 with my new best friend Jewel (Midnight Jewel). We traveled together from New York, bonded quickly, and finished our quarantine as a pair.
I have some challenges, likely neurological issues or lasting effects from my hard-working life, and the team is watching me closely with vet care and lots of love. But I’m safe now, eating beautiful Kentucky grass, and surrounded by people who celebrate me. I’ll never know hunger or neglect again. From long days pulling carts to peaceful pastures with a true friend by my side, this old cart mare has finally found her forever home. Every Horse A Tale To Tell… and mine is one of resilience and new beginnings.
